That’s right. I am going ALL IN as a musician in 2023! and I’d be so grateful for your ears and your feedback. Hey friends! Those of you who have known me long have seen and heard me throw a lot of amateur but fun music out on YouTube and other social media over the last 20+ years. It’s been a long, slow but steady ride as I have always worked to keep the dream alive and keep upping my game. Well, I’m ready to “go pro”! I have a bunch of awesome songs coming out this year, starting with[…]
Which Classic Rock Artist Inspired a Rocking Song About a Beloved President from a Humble Background?
The lead vocalist and guitar player from this band, which really blew up in the early 80’s (and then soon after disbanded), went on to become a favorite solo artist of mine. There are many things about his playing, singing, and songwriting that appeal to me. One of the characteristics of his style that I really admire is the warmth of his sound. Both his playing and his singing are just so mellow and sweet. And his songs and his playing are very melodic and often use fun rhythmic elements (like the drums in Cannibals!). Another thing about his songwriting[…]
Moving Into an Incredible New Phase in my Musical Journey!
I am so excited to share this! Over the last two years, my life as a musician with a simple goal (producing a full length album) has taken an incredible path, raising my composing, recording, and mixing abilities to truly professional levels. Not only am I collaborating with brilliant musicians from all across the world, I am also being taught by an amazing mentor and having my songs produced by world-class producers! How it all started… Back in 2013 and 2014 as I was working on recording and producing my first EP, Keeping the Dream Alive, I stumbled across a[…]
What do you get When you mix a Kick-ass Action Star, ZZ Top, and the King of the Jungle?
Early on in the pandemic, I found myself binging movies (and I know I wasn’t the only one 🙂 ). I was particularly drawn to the countless flicks starring Liam Neeson kicking ass, hunting down his missing daughter, or getting back at someone who had wronged him in some way. I watch movies in the same small room that serves as my home studio. This often leads to me grabbing my guitar or sitting at my DAW to noodle through an idea that was inspired by something I heard in a movie. Maybe it was part of a soundtrack, but[…]
Keeping the Dream Alive (video)
It took me over two years, chipping away a little at a time, to get this video completed, but, yes, I kept the dream alive. I hope you find a little inspiration in this video and funky little rock instrumental. Follow your dreams.
Every Day She’s Gone
In one episode of Lost, after Claire has been lost in the woods for days, Charlie says, “Every day she’s gone, it’s like a little of me crumbles away …”. Well that was all it took to set these lyrics to writing themselves in my head. When I first recorded Every Day She’s Gone in 2013, I ended up rushing it a bit. As I came close to finishing and releasing Keeping the Dream Alive in 2014, I knew I had to revisit it and improve some of the weak spots. I re-recorded the backing vocals, cut out a few[…]
Lotto Dust – The Video!
Kicking off 2015 with the release of this sweet new video for Lotto Dust … My philosophy when it comes to my music, as well as other areas of my life, is to strive for continuous improvement. Just try and be a bit better today than you were yesterday, and you’ll keep moving forward. Of course, that means you have to find/make the time for it, which is pretty challenging when you have a pretty intense ‘career and a half’ (as so many of us do these days), and you’re a Dad and a husband to boot. Thankfully, I do[…]
K. Walsh Live! Days Gone By (Original)
This song goes out to all of the awesome friends that I used to hang out with in the late 70’s and early 80’s, playing frisbee at the Croton Dam, camping out on top of “Anthony’s Nose”, chilling around the fire in the pine woods, and just having an amazing time. “Time was when we’d carry on all night long, howl at the moon ’til the dawn of day …”. Man, its been a long time. You guys are always right here in my heart, head, and soul. I think this live version (with the end arranged on-the-fly) came out[…]
Sharing that new Holiday Classic – Christmas Time
My wife Christine has sung backup for me on a few songs, including Hurtin’ Up My Heart from Keeping the Dream Alive, but here we truly conspire … as we join voices by an imagined Yuletide fire. My favorite part of this original Christmas song may be the wonderful saxophone by a pro from StudioPros.com. Happy Holidays!
A Review of “Keeping the Dream Alive”
Much thanks to my cousin, writer Patrick Walsh, for his article, “Doing the Math: A Review of Keeping the Dream Alive“. Patrick is an accomplished writer, having authored Spaceflight: A Historical Encyclopedia (2010) and Echoes Among the Stars (2000) along with countless shorter pieces in print and digital media over several decades. He is also an avid music fan, having written pieces for the Hudson Valley’s “More Sugar“, and other publications. It’s certainly a privilege to have someone as qualified as Patrick write a review of my music (and a favorable one at that)! Here’s a couple brief excerpts from[…]
