One of the best free resources that TEAM founder Gary Gray has shared with me and the other musicians from across the world that he mentors on a weekly basis in our MasterMind* sessions is Mugglinworks.com.
Mugglinworks has a variety of tools and resources, but one of the fundamental sets of tools on the site is their “Music Theory for Songwriters” section, found here: https://www.mugglinworks.com/chordmaps/. If you click through to that link and scroll down, you’ll see that there are two multi-part sections of links to tutorial content, starting with some basics and evolving through to a unique concept they refer to as “Chordmaps”.
These music theory resources can be great for beginners but they can also be powerful learning opportunities for those who are comfortable with theory basics and want to expand their knowledge.
The ChordMaps ideas is very powerful and comes with diagrams and available companion apps for the iPad and iPhone (those come with a small fee).
I strongly suggest you click over to the Mugglinworks Music Theory page and spend some time exploring the resources here: https://www.mugglinworks.com/chordmaps/.
I also want to share a great big THANK YOU to the creators of Mugglin works for developing and sharing such an awesome resource! May the kindness and generosity of your efforts be returned manyfold!
*The weekly “MasterMind” sessions were first made available through HowToLicenseYourMusic.com, and will soon be available through the TEAM Premium music licensing education offering – learn more here!
