Celebrating the vital role rainforests play on our planet

Protecting the world’s rainforests is critical because they act as one of Earth’s most powerful natural systems for regulating climate, preserving biodiversity, and supporting human life. These ecosystems store vast amounts of carbon, while also producing oxygen and stabilizing weather patterns. 

Rainforests are home to more than half of the planet’s plant and animal species, many of which are not found anywhere else, and they provide livelihoods for millions of Indigenous communities. THEIR DECLINE disrupts essential ecological balances that all life depends on.

The summer of 2026 charitable campaiGn:

During the summer of 2026, I ran a campaign to seek donations in exchange for a download of “Forest Rain”. the campaing wrapped up in early september and All donations were donated directly to the Rainforest trust fun. The campaign raised $116. I had hoped for much more, but every dollar counts and i am so grateful for those who donated - A huge thanK you! to all of those who participated!

Forest Rain was originally written in 1995, in recognition of the growing global awareness of the environmental impact of global deforestation, with a focus on the world's rainforests. In 2026 when the song was re-recorded, the world's rainforests are still seriously threatened. K. Walsh released the new recording and announced that all direct sales over that summer would go to the Rainforest Trust Fund. Ranked by Charity Navigator as "100% / 4-star rating", with approximately 94% of funds going directly to conservation programs, including the purchase and protection of land, The Rainforest Trust has helped protect 60+ million acres of rainforest and countless plants and animals. The campaign raised $116. Thank you to all who contributed!

Effective September 4th, "Forest Rain" is now available on all streaming platforms. Of course, if anyone wishes to donate to this effort, any sales received here will be donated to the Rainforest Trust. Thank you!

Check out this great article that music journalist Chris Hedden wrote about the "Forest Rain" campaign for his “On the Back Egde of the Beat” column on SubStack!

“I love when music can help to boost a cause or make a difference in the world. Depending on the issue, some efforts can be divisively charged or polarizing…but other subjects (at least to me) are more straightforward, simply devoted to seeing more good in the world for all of humanity’s benefit. A few voices might still greet this with cynicism, but not when it comes to K. Walsh. 

The self-described “songwriter, guitarist, and home studio enthusiast” has released a handful of singles over the last few years (as well as an album in 2025 called A Light in the Darkness). His most recent drop is a song called “Forest Rain,” with all proceeds from the track being donated directly to a charity called The Rainforest Trust. Originally written in 1995 “in recognition of the growing global awareness of the environmental impact of global deforestation,” “Forest Rain” was given new life this year through a re-recording due to the world’s rainforests still being threatened.”
