From the recording Forest Rain
Forest Rain was originally written in 1995, in recognition of the growing global awareness of the environmental impact of global deforestation, with a focus on the world's rainforests. In 2026 when the song was re-recorded, the world's rainforests are still seriously threatened. K. Walsh released the new recording and announced that all direct sales proceeds would go to the Rainforest Trust Fund. Ranked by Charity Navigator as "100% / 4-star rating", with approximately 94% of funds going directly to conservation programs, including the purchase and protection of land, The Rainforest Trust has helped protect 60+ million acres of rainforest and countless plants and animals.
The track features Walsh on lead vocals, lead guitar, keyboard, and acoustic rhythm guitar, with the talents of Musiversal studio musicians on acoustic guitar, bass, flute, and a variety of percussion instruments often associated with the lands where rainforests are found. Birdsong, rain, and thunder bring nature into the piece, which celebrates the beauty and mystique of the rainforest while also lamenting the challenges faced due to human encroachment, and the need to work together to recognize the issue and act on it.
Lyrics
FOREST RAIN
The sky grew dark as the clouds crept over
The forest roof in the twilight hour
The clouds they broke and the rains fell out
What we have within we cannot do without
And it rained a legend
And it rained a myth
And it rained a vision
And it rained truth
And it rained a poem
And it rained a prayer
And it rained a little joy
That we all should share
Woah oh … oh oh
Woah oh … oh oh
The hour grew late and the night rolled by
And the morning sun, it touched a crimson sky
And a tear met a smile
and they loved and laughed a while
And they wondered when
they would embrace again
And it rained a dream
And it rained a tear
And it rained harmony
That we all must hear
And it rained a mystery
And it rained a clue
And it rained a little dance
That we all could do
Woah oh … oh oh
Woah oh … oh oh
And it rained beauty
And it rained peace
And it rained a sigh
And it rained release
And it rained a legend
And it rained a myth
And it rained a reality
That we must live with
And it rained
Woah oh … oh oh
And it rained
Woah oh … oh oh
And it rained
Woah oh … oh oh
And it rained
Woah oh … oh oh
The sky grew dark as the clouds crept over
The forest roof in the twilight hour
